Recover your debts. Anywhere in the world!
Sometimes it might seem impossible to collect your money when a foreign customer fails to pay their invoice. Foreign defaulters speak a different language, live in a country with different laws and regulations, and can sometimes be difficult to locate.
Fortunately, recovering your outstanding claims is a lot easier than it initially seems. Our debt recovery agency specializes in international debt collection and works together with a fast network of lawyers, attorneys, and bailiffs around the world. They are familiar with the local legislation in the relevant country and can communicate in your debtor’s language. With the help of our international network of debt recovery specialists, we can collect all your claims anywhere in the world.
You can track the progress of our foreign debt collection procedures 24/7 in our Online Cockpit. Throughout the entire debt collection process, you have contact with one of our dedicated English speaking debt collection agents.
How does international debt recovery work?
Is your defaulter located abroad? At Collection Company, we work according to a well-thought-out international debt collection procedure. With this approach, we have already assisted thousands of clients in collecting their outstanding claims abroad.
Step 1. Submit your claim
Submit your claim with us. We will assess your situation and build up your file. You will be assigned a personal advisor who will support you throughout the entire international debt recovery process with the necessary legal expertise and experience.
Step 2: Together, we determine the strategy
Every debt collection case requires a different approach. Your personal advisor will contact you to discuss the case strategy with you. Our goal is to obtain a complete payment, including the incurred collection costs. 94% of all cases have success during this so-called amicable phase. Often through a one-time payment, sometimes through a reasonable payment arrangement.
During the process, you can monitor our progress from your own exclusive Online Cockpit. In our advanced online portal, you can view the current status of your cases 24/7.
Step 3: We select local specialists
With our global network of lawyers, bailiffs, and attorneys, we can quickly take action in the country of your foreign debtor. By collaborating with various locally established experts, we always know how to match the perfect expert to your case.
During the process, you have one dedicated English speaking contact: your personal advisor. They will handle the entire case and communicate with the local experts, so you don’t have to deal with this yourself. Your personal advisor will also translate the necessary legal documents and other documentation for you.
Step 4: We start the recovery procedure
We will start collecting your money in the country of your debtor. As each country differs in its laws and regulations, we will act according to local practices. We always execute the amicable (out-of-court) collection process (reaching an agreement with the debtor) using a contingent fee. This means that if we don’t collect anything, you don’t have to pay.
If necessary legal measures need to be taken, your personal advisor will inform you about the process and discuss any costs and risks with you. This way, you will never be faced with unpleasant surprises.
Step 5: We collect the claim
In most cases, the debtor pays during the amicable debt collection procedure. The amount will be deposited into your account and the case will be successfully concluded.
If the customer does not pay during the extrajudicial phase, the next step is a judicial procedure. With the assistance of our local lawyers and bailiffs, we will summon your debtor to court. With a judicial ruling, we can then initiate enforcement proceedings.

Local collection lawyers
Collection Company works with local debt collection lawyers. These lawyers represent your interests during legal proceedings involving significant monetary claims and complex debt recovery cases. Depending on applicable regulations, in many countries a lawyer is mandatory when collecting claims above a certain amount or to enforce a court order. By partnering with local lawyers in the respective country, we can engage a lawyer if needed and effectively take on every international debt collection case from start to finish.
Enforcing international court orders
If your foreign debtor refuses to pay after a court ruling, we will engage our network of bailiffs. With the assistance of local bailiffs and lawyers, we can seize assets from your debtor. This ensures that you receive your money, even if your debtor is unwilling to pay voluntarily.
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about global debt recovery
FAQ: Which documents do I need to prepare for an international debt recovery case?
When you transfer your debt collection case to us, we would like to receive as many documents as possible that support your claim. This can include signed contracts, invoices, reminders, and email correspondence.
As an international debt collector, we understand that your file may not always be complete. That is not a problem. Together with our collections specialist, you can explore which evidence you do have for your claim.
If available, we kindly request the following documents:
- A copy of the agreement
- Email correspondence confirming the agreement
- A fax confirmation
- Your summary of the agreed terms
- Invoices
- Reminders
- A copy of your general terms and conditions
- Any proof of delivery, if available.
FAQ: Do you use a contingent fee for international debt recovery?
During the amicable (out-of-court) phase of the debt collection process a contingent fee applies, even for international cases. This means you don’t have to pay anything if we are unable to collect your claim. If we do succeed in getting your claim paid, your debtor will cover the collection costs. In 94 percent of international debt collection cases, we are able to collect your claim during the amicable phase.
If we are unable to collect your foreign claims out of court, you can choose to take legal action. There are (initial) costs associated with the legal phase, which we try to have reimbursed by your debtor as much as possible.
FAQ: Why not hire a local debt collection agency?
If you work with local debt recovery agencies, you often encounter a language barrier. Moreover, you have to deal with a significant time difference in many countries. As your international debt collection partner, Collection Company works with local lawyers, attorneys, and bailiffs in the respective country.
However, as a client, you communicate with your personal debt collection advisor. You do not have to communicate with the local parties yourself. We can handle every debt collection case, from the amicable phase to the judicial collection procedures for you.
FAQ: What is a European Payment Order?
If you have an outstanding invoice with a customer within the EU, it is not always necessary to proceed with legal action in the debtor’s country. For undisputed claims, EU-based companies and individuals can also obtain a European Payment Order (EPO) or use the European Small Claims Procedure if the debtor resides in another member-state.
We can initiate these procedures at the designated court in your country by filling out a few standard forms.

Excellent! Clear dashboard and good feedback from a dedicated contact person. I was unable to collect my outstanding invoices myself within 3 months.
